TERMS OF USE
CitiObs is a project funded by the European Union (“CitiObs Project”).
The following Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy and Terms of Use statement (“Statement”) is an essential part of the CitiObs Project website and its content. The CitiObs Project’s website and its content and tools found at www.citiobs.eu are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “CitiObs Website”.
The CitiObs Website is hosted by the Norwegian Climate and Environmental Research Institute (“NILU”), as the coordinator of the CitiObs Project, and managed and operated by DreVen SRL established in Belgium (“DreVen”), a partner of the CitiObs Project (to be contacted at: manager@dreven.be).
This Statement is provided to the visitors and/or users of the CitiObs Website (each a “User” and together “Users”).
The CitiObs Website is produced, maintained and updated by the partners of the CitiObs Project – the partners together forming the “CitiObs Consortium” – and is maintained to provide Users with access to information about the CitiObs Project activities and to disseminate CitiObs Project results.
All material, including images, data, information, logos and videos, on the CitiObs Website is owned by the CitiObs Consortium or individual partners of the CitiObs Project, as agreed among said partners, and it is subject to copyright protection.
Opinions, views, information and other material on the CitiObs Website reflects only the views of the author/authors – not the views of the body providing the grant for the CitiObs Project, nor of the European Commission, the European Research Executive Agency or any other body of the European Union, and no such body can be held responsible for said views. By accessing, browsing, or using the CitiObs Website (including any services provided under the Website or provided by third parties as linked from the CitiObs Website), the Users declares that they have read, understood, and therefore agree to be bound by this Statement and the laws and regulations herein referred to. In case a User do not agree with this Statement and/or do not undertake all obligations of a User as stated herein, the User may not use the CitiObs Website.
This Statement will be revised by the CitiObs Consortium from time to time and therefore CitiObs Consortium recommends Users to regularly check whether the Statement has been revised. Users will be notified by the CitiObs Consortium, via prominent notifications on the CitiObs Website, of major changes that may negatively impact the Users’ obligations and/or rights to use the CitiObs Website.
COOKIE POLICY
The CitiObs Website uses cookies to personalize each User’s online experience. A cookie is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on your computer by the user’s web browser. When you request another page from the server, your browser sends the cookie back to the server.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save the user’s time. In the CitiObs Project we use cookies relevant to Google Analytics.
By accessing the CitiObs Website, the Users accept third party non-functional cookies.
Please also be aware that the CitiObs Consortium makes every effort to respect each User’s choices. However, there is always a possibility that not all cookies will be captured. In case this possibility causes concern, it is recommended that the concerned Users change their cookie settings via their browser; the help function in their browser will provide them with information on how to do it.
PRIVACY POLICY
This policy provides detailed information about and instructions regarding the processing of information relating to an identified or identifiable person, such as name, identification number, location data etc. (“Personal Data”), when using the CitiObs Website – including how Users can exercise their rights regarding own Personal Data. Personal Data used on the CitiObs Website are processed in accordance with relevant and applicable laws and regulations, such as the REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of the natural persons with regard to the process of personal data and on the free movement of such data (“GDPR”).
Responsibility for data collection
The data collected on the CitiObs Website is processed by DreVen, being the CitiObs Website operator, and NILU, as the CitiObs Project coordinator – the contact details to be found in the Terms of Use.
Data collection and purposes for the data collection
When visiting the CitiObs Website, the CitiObs Website collects and processes data of the visiting Users that may be deemed as Personal Data (e.g. IP-address). The CitiObs Website also collects and processes Personal Data of Users when a User contacts the CitiObs Project through the pre-defined contact form on the Website or via e-mail. In this case, the CitiObs Project collects the name and e-mail address of the User. Regarding the subscription to the newsletter of the CitiObs Project, the CitiObs Website collects the name and e-mail address as provided by the User in order to receive the newsletter. The collection, use and storage hereof for the purpose of sending newsletters and other information related to the CitiObs Project constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (a) and (c) GDPR.
Personal Data may further be used by the CitiObs Project for the purpose of statistical analysis and functioning of the CitiObs Website.
The CitiObs Project may retain communications provided by a User when completing the contact forms on the CitiObs Website or when sending an e-mail to citiobs@nilu.no in order to process inquiries and/or respond to requests in the communication and to improve the CitiObs Website or to give the communicating User assistance regarding the CitiObs Project services. Contact information provided by the User will be used solely in order to contact the User with, for example, information or updates regarding the services, offer of newsletters, and other content or (support) services in connection with the services of the Project, unless the User informs the CitiObs Project through the contact form on the CitiObs Website that the User does not wish to receive any communication from the CitiObs Project. The CitiObs Project will not use the CitiObs Website to collect special Personal Data according to Art. 9 (1) GDPR, such as information regarding political views, race, religious beliefs, health.
Analytics and third-party tools and links
The CitiObs Project will also work with various companies, which will help the CitiObs Project analyse the use of the CitiObs Website, and to optimize the CitiObs Website to deliver the best possible experience. The CitiObs Project will use (i) Google Analytics by Google Inc. to help the CitiObs Project monitor CitiObs Website traffic, (ii) stat.g.doubleclick.net in order to help the CitiObs Project monitor Users’ visits to the CitiObs Website, (iii) pbs.twimg.com which are social media tracking cookies, and (iv) Twitter, and LinkedIn in order to easily log in if Users would like to follow the CitiObs Project on said platforms, or follow the social media stream or share content from the CitiObs Website.
The CitiObs Website contains links to or from other internet sites provided and controlled by independent third parties (such as Project partners) – below “Third Party Sites”. The CitiObs Project has no control over such Third Party Sites and undertakes no responsibility for the availability and/or content of Third Party Sites. Further, the CitiObs Project does not control and cannot block the cookies used on such Third Party Sites.
Data Subjects Rights
The CitiObs Project would like to make sure you, as a User, are fully aware of all of your rights to protect your Personal Data. Therefore, please be informed that you are entitled to the following:

The right to withdraw your consent – Many Personal Data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. The Personal Data processed before the receipt of your request to withdraw may still be legally processed according to the previously given consent. Personal Data processed on other legal basis than consent may still be processed according to such other legal basis.

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your Personal Data processed by the CitiObs Project.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that the CitiObs Project corrects your processed Personal Data which you believe to be inaccurate. You also have the right to request that the CitiObs Project completes your processed Personal Data which you believe to be incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that the CitiObs Project erases your processed Personal Data under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that the CitiObs Project restricts the processing of your Personal Data under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the CitiObs Project processing your Personal Data under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that the CitiObs Project transfers your Personal Data provided by you to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
